Description
This Vintage African Shield And Spear was made by the Zulu tribesmen in South Africa. Traditionally, the big, white shield is reserved for a Zulu chief or a heroic Zulu warrior.
Specifics of the Vintage African Shield And Spear
The Vintage African Shield is round (appr. 28” in diameter); the spear is approximately 64.5” long. The shield is made of Nguni cow hide and nearly round.
The head of the spear is handmade and attached to the wooden rod with an iron wire (see closeup). The surface of the Vintage African Spear is beautifully smooth, but the spear isn’t as straight as a broom’s handle; it has beautiful natural imperfections.
CONDITION: this is an old Authentic Zulu Shield And Spear set. The spearhead is slightly rusted. The shield has some age-related yellowing and areas of hair loss.
Obviously, the Authentic Zulu Shield And Spear are no longer battle-ready, but they’ll make for a spectacular home decor!
